Bip Bip

Cole calls her pacifier a "Bip bip." Several months ago, she started waking up everytime her bip bip fell out of her mouth and crying instead of putting it back in herself. So, since she was waking up at night more than Henry we decided it was time to get rid of the Bip Bips.

We told Cole we would get her a special toy if she could be a big girl and give her Bip Bips to the babies at the hospital (took a page from the Super Nanny book). Cole seemed excited about the idea, so we rounded up her Bip Bips and headed to the hospital.

She gave them to the nurse with no problem, so off we headed to Build -A-Bear so she could pick out a special toy to snuggle with at night instead of a pacifier. She picked out the girliest pink money, but then chose a soccer uniform as the outfit, and of course, decided to name the monkey Bip Bip.

She was completely fine all through story time and prayers, but as soon as we put her in her bed she asked for her Bip Bip. I gave her her monkey, but she said she wanted her OTHER Bip Bip. Then the fun began... she cried pretty much all night long. In the morning she said, "Mom I don't like my pink Bip Bip."

So after all of that, she cried for hours and she hates her new Bip Bip. This worked so much better on Super Nanny....

**Update - She did pretty good on the second night with about 15 minutes of crying. However, we are currently in the middle of the night #3 and she has just woken up crying for the fifth time since going to bed two hours ago....uhg, we should have waited to start this until henry is sleeping through the night.

Not fun. It's always something though, right? Reina has the exact same monkey, she calls it "pink monkey". She's not as creative as Cole.

These stories make me glad I could never get Elise to take a pacifier. Weaning from boob and bottle were hard enough :)! Love the pictures of Henry's sweet smile.

I'm sorry! This post had me cracking up though! Spencer and I have been talking about when we're going to take away Madi's "Bip bips" (love what she named them). She only uses them at night so I figured it's no big deal. However, my sister just did the binky weaning with her 2 year old and said the same things you were saying. So should I get Madi off them before the baby comes?? Ug!! I think I'm more attached to them than she is!! It's such an easy fix at bedtime when she starts her fussing! Let me know how long it takes. I should probably get started.
