Survivor Summit

Wile the kids I were home watching the 4th of July fireworks, Chad was in Africa climbing Mount Kilimanjaro! We missed him SO much, but were also so proud of him.  Chad climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with a charity organization called Survivor Summit.  This organization takes a group of cancer survivors or people affected by cancer to the Summit of Kilimanjaro for a few reasons.  First, they use the trip to raise money for cancer research.  Each participant had to raise at least $10,000 in order to particiapte.  They also take the trip to inspire cancer paitents and give hope to those struggling with all kinds of difficult circumstances.  They use the "reaching the summit" metaphor to help people see that they can climb their own personal mountains in life.  Chad was asked to go because he had a patient that lost her leg to cancer and she needed prosthetic support in order to make it to the summit.  Chad decided to climb in honor of his friend Shawn Overall who had recently passed away from cancer.  Chad had an amazing experience with a group of amazing people.  While we hade to stay home, we were so proud of Chad and all he had accomplished and felt blessed that he was able to honor his friend Shawn in this way.
